Thank you for your support of our efforts to bring vital healthcare services to the people with the greatest unmet needs in Sub-Saharan Africa. To date, we have helped increase enrollment at the medical school at Bugando from just 10 MD students in 2004 to 590 MD students currently in training. Since inception, we have graduated 150 doctors and over 1,300 allied health professionals.
Treat and Train will expand our efforts beyond Bugando to regional and district hospitals. The program will rotate teams of specialists through these medical facilities, which will simultaneously treat patients and provide clinical training to Bugando students. Through this program thousands of rural patients will receive highly skilled medical care, many for the first time in their lives. These efforts will result in both a higher number of physicians trained and countless lives saved.
Treat and Train, as well as our ongoing work at Bugando, will be generously funded by the US government provided we secure the matching funds — a dollar of private support for each dollar of US government funding. We need your support to raise the matching funds, which in turn will enable us to make these life-saving initiatives possible. Any support you can provide will be deeply appreciated.
