Coordinated by executive producer Tony Hollingsworth, who has organized some of the world’s largest global broadcast events including ‘The Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute Concert’ and ‘The Wall: Live in Berlin’, Listen Live will showcase a selection of top musical stars, visual art and photography displays, and powerful films of children all over the world who have been affected by war, poverty, disease, exploitation and natural disasters. The event will then be broadcast around the globe by TV and radio, during which viewers and listeners will have the opportunity to call in to make donations.
Listen is a global media campaign that uses performing artists to highlight the needs of children around the world, reaching over 500 million people in sixty countries through varied communication mediums. The campaign’s goals including and maintaining awareness of the issues facing disadvantaged children, raising funds for a broad selection of organizations working directly in the field to improve the situation of children around the globe, and developing an active community of supporters committed to helping alleviate children’s suffering.
As a featured beneficiary of the event, Touch may be profiled in a short documentary demonstrating how the efforts of various organizations are directly improving the lives of children around the globe.
While our mission to train healthcare workers is not restricted to assisting children, Listen recognizes that in addition to providing direct care to hundreds of thousands of Tanzanian children, a stronger healthcare system in Tanzania will also protect and preserve the adults who care for them.
Building on the vision of Listen, we are in the early stages of planning our own publicity campaign culminating in a concert event in late 2007 or early 2008. Stay tuned for details!
