
Director of Development
The Director of Development will develop and implement our overall fundraising plan and take the lead in building and managing donor/stakeholder relationships. Working as part of a team, you will report to the Executive Director and be responsible for contact and donor administration, as well as play a critical role in building the organization’s base of support and expanding the constituencies of individuals and key institutions currently giving to the foundation.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy targeted to multiple constituencies
- Work with senior leadership to build and cultivate an expanded network of support
- Plan and execute current fundraising vehicles (special events, annual giving campaigns) while identifying new channels of support
- Develop and manage stakeholder relationships
- Coordinate and oversee office systems designed to support all development projects and operations including donor management systems, donor communications and research activities
Minimum Requirements
You will be a proven self-starter, able to work well within a non-profit corporation run under for-profit business principles. You must have at least an undergraduate degree combined with five to ten years of fundraising experience, including expertise in planning and running events and fundraising campaigns. The successful candidate will have a proven record of actively securing gifts from individual donors and foundations. Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, process management and communication skills are also required. Further education or background in public health, international relations, or economics would be an added advantage, as would experience in Africa or other developing regions.
