Program Director

The Program Director will provide leadership, management and oversight to teams working to resolve complex development problems in a variety of programmatic and fundraising areas. Managing staff and resources and in collaboration with key stakeholders, you will direct, plan & implement strategic objectives consistent with the overall approach and objectives of the Foundation.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and execution of various workstreams by working with local partners, junior staff, government agencies, other NGOs, and private donor groups. Program areas vary significantly and could include financial analysis, re-engineering, procurement, logistics, fundraising, strategy, operations, HR, management, public health, medicine, or construction, or a combination. You will also be responsible for ensuring that effective program reporting, assessment, monitoring/evaluation systems for internal and external use are maintained; meeting targets and deliverables on-time and within budget; and coordinating staff to ensure operational systems are in place to support activities within Tanzania. You will be the primary in-country representative to donors, relevant government entities, implementation partners and external stakeholders; effectively managing and developing these key relationships will be one of your core responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements
You will be a proven self-starter, able to work well within a non-profit corporation run under for-profit business principles with at least five to ten years of relevant experience. You must have a graduate degree such as an MBA, MD, MPH, JD etc, or equivalent intrinsics and experience which give you a solid foundation in strategic or operational problem-solving. Experience working and living in a developing country, preferably in sub-Saharan Africa, would be an added advantage. Outstanding analytical, interpersonal, process management and team/communication skills are also required and valued. The successful candidate will also have demonstrable track record of effective client management skills.
